Korean food and bio giant CJ CheilJedang will invest $210 million to expand its amino acid manufacturing facility in Brazil, the company said Monday. The plant, which was built in Aug. 2004, produces amino acid for animal feeds. The expansion will allow the company to additionally produce high value-added amino acids. CJ CheilJedang’s bio business raised 175.8 billion won ($134.6 million) in operating income in the first quarter, up 128% on year on sales of 1.08 trillion won, up 39%. Shares of CheilJedang were trading 0.39% lower at 385,500 won Tuesday morning.
