Saudi Arabia has committed to extending and strengthening a UN-mediated truce in Yemen after US President Joe Biden held talks in the Saudi city of Jeddah with the Saudi leadership on several issues, including the Saudi military engagement in Yemen since 2015. The UN-brokered nationwide truce went into effect on 02 April 2022 after the Yemeni government and the Saudi-led coalition reached an agreement with their rival, the Houthis, in an attempt to revive UN-sponsored peace talks on ending the prolonged war in Yemen.
