In April 2021 Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid, three of the original twelve founding members of the European Super League, won a ruling by a Spanish court that the clubs could not be punished by the UEFA or FIFA for setting up the league. The court in Madrid referred the case to the CJEU.
