Heatwave advisories and warnings issued by the Korea Meteorological Administration

The rain, which had been falling heavily in the central region, has subsided, allowing authorities to lift all heavy rain advisories and warnings nationwide. On Friday, July 1, there may be thundershowers with strong gusts of wind in some areas in the central region, and the sweltering heat is expected to continue in Jeju-do, the southern region, Chungcheong and the central and southern Yeongdong region in Gangwon.

According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the monsoon rain that showered down the previous day has eased and as of midnight this day, all heavy rain advisories and warnings have been lifted throughout the nation.

Sometime between late this afternoon and night, thundershowers with strong gusts are forecast in southeastern Gyeonggi, the mountainous areas in southern Gangwon, southeastern Chungcheongnam-do, northern Chungcheongbuk-do and inland Gyeongsang. The showers are expected to bring rainfall of 5-40mm (in some places as much as over 60mm). Authorities expect less than 5mm of rain to fall in the inland areas of northern Gyeonggi and northern Gangwon and in the mountainous areas of Jeju-do by noon this day.

The heatwave will continue in the southern regions. The “felt temperature” will rise up to 33°C (over 35°C in some areas in Gyeongsangbuk-do) in Jeju-do, southern regions, Chungcheong, and some central and southern Yeongdong areas in Gangwon, where a heatwave alert has been issued, and some areas will suffer from the scorching heat. According to the forecast this day, the temperature will rise up to 28-35°C nationwide.

There will be a thick fog this morning in southeastern Gyeonggi, inland Gangwon, Chungcheongbuk-do and inland Gyeongsangbuk-do with a visibility range of around 200 meters, and more fog is expected in other inland areas, so caution is required when driving.
