A new consortium involving top South Korean airport operator and two Indonesian state-owned enterprises (SOEs) started work on a 25-year operatorship of the Hang Nadim International Airport in Batam, Riau Islands province, last week. South Korea’s Incheon International Airport Corporation (IIAC) will take a 30 percent stake in the consortium led by state airport operator Angkasa Pura I (AP I) and state construction firm PT Wijaya Karya (WIKA) to develop and manage Hang Nadim over the next few decades, having taken over custodianship from the Batam Indonesia Free Zone Authority (BIFZA) on Friday. Under the new banner of PT Bandara Internasional Batam (BIB), AP I gets a 51 percent stake while WIKA gets the remaining 19 percent stake.
