Hyundai Motor has released images of the Ioniq 6, the second car from the all-electric Ioniq brand.
Under Hyundai Motor's new design concept, which the company describes as an "electrified streamliner," the electric vehicle's (EV) features are decidedly aerodynamic.
The exterior of the Ioniq 6 was based on the Prophecy concept EV, a design shown at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show.
The Ioniq 6, which will be available in Korea later this year, will be Hyundai Motor's second EV to be manufactured on the E-GMP, a standardized EV configuration that includes the battery, the base frame, motors, axles, wheels and suspension
The EV has parametric pixel lights in over 700 places, such as headlamps, rear combination lamps, front lower sensors, air vent garnishes and the center console indicator.
It also comes with a new emblem, which is made of thin flat aluminum. The new emblem will be on cars introduced by Hyundai Motor in the future, the company said.
The interior has been designed with sustainable materials, such as recycled polyester PET fabrics, while the carpet is made from recycled fishing nets. Special paints derived from vegetable oils are used on the doors, while pigments were sourced from used tires and bamboo charcoal.
The Dual Color Ambient Lighting system is able to emit 64 different color combinations to help drivers and passengers feel relaxed and comfortable.
"Ioniq 6 is an emotional convergence of functionality and aesthetics," said Lee Sang-yup, executive vice president and head of the Hyundai Design Center. "The distinctive streamlined design is a culmination of the cooperation between engineers and designers of the EV era."
Full specifications will be published during a virtual world premiere event in July.
