More than 1,000 civil servants part of the Korean Government Employees’ Union (KGEU) went on strike Wednesday in front of the presidential office in Yongsan District, central Seoul, demanding a 7.4% hike in 2023 salary and more benefits. Unions of big companies have also been demanding wage hike to reflect strong inflation to raise concerns for more inflationary buildup from higher wages.
