Late-nigh cab-hailing in Seoul has become near impossibility due to shortage of taxis from expensive fuel prices and overwhelming demand after business hour has been normalized from Covid-19 curfew. Amid lengthy pandemic curfew, the number of cab drivers shrank from 104,973 in 2018 to 73,949 in 2022. The government is bringing back cab-sharing for the first time since the ban in 1982.
