Weeekly member Shin Ji-yoon has left the girl group due to health issues, IST Entertainment announced Wednesday.
The label said that Shin has been showing signs of anxiety since she debuted as a Weeekly member in 2020. She took two temporary breaks from the group to focus on “getting better."
After halting her activities temporarily in August 2021, she rejoined in December of the same year. She took another break in March but has not resumed activities with the group since then.
“We’ve been in constant discussions with Ji-yoon, her family, medical doctors and the group members about Ji-yoon’s condition and came to the conclusion that she has to be in an environment where she is psychologically stable and can focus on her treatment.”
The label apologized to fans for disappointing them and asked them to support Ji-yoon so she can recover her “bright and lovely energy.”
“Weeekly will continue as a six-member girl group. Please show your support for the rest of the members Park So-eun, Zoa, Lee Jae-hee, Jihan, Lee Soo-jin and Monday.”
