aespa has signed a partnership deal with Warner Records, the girl group's Korean label SM Entertainment announced Wednesday.
“The deal with the world-class recording company covers aespa's global music content distribution and marketing promotions,” SM said in a statement. “SM is well aware of Warner Records’ glorious history with global artists, and we are grateful for Warner’s trust in the future of aepsa. We will continue to show aespa’s unique innovative music and work together with Warner to make aespa grow into a world-class group.”
The announcement comes prior to the release of aespa's second EP “Girls,” which is scheduled to drop on July 8. With the partnership deal, SM Entertainment said aespa will begin various promotional activities through SM and Warner until the EP drops in Korea and the United States on the same day.
Before the EP’s release aespa will drop an English-language single “Life’s Too Short” on June 24. The group already performed the song at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April.
Warner Records co-chairs Tom Corson and Aaron Bay-Schuck said in a statement, “aespa has already made a huge impact around the world under the leadership of SM’s founder Lee Soo-man. We are honored to have aepsa be part of the Warner Records family and look forward to achieving unprecedented successes together.”
The girls also expressed through the label that they are “very happy to be part of the Warner Records family and grateful to start the next chapter of aespa. Please look forward to our upcoming activities, including a new album to be released this summer.”
Aespa, which debuted in November 2020, is known for its metaverse concepts and commercially successful songs like “Black Mamba” (2020), “Next Level” and “Savage” (2021). Last month, aespa was the first K-pop girl group to be chosen as one of Time magazine’s Next Generation Leaders.
The group has four members: Giselle, Karina, Ningning and Winter.
