Bora Chung, author of “Cursed Bunny,” left, and the book’s translator Anton Hur, pose with the book during the ceremony for the prestigious 2022 International Booker Prize in London on Thursday.

"Cursed Bunny" was shortlisted for the prize in early April but failed to win the award. Still, the shortlist accomplishment is widely recognized as having helped broaden the horizon of “K-literature." The book has been dubbed a “genre-defying collection" and includes horror, sci-fi and fantasy short stories that address modern societal issues of patriarchy and capitalism.

On the same day, Hur was selected as the winner of the Culture & Arts sector for the 13th Yumin Awards, which is hosted every year by the JoongAng Ilbo and Yumin Cultural Foundation. The award acknowledges individuals or organizations that have made creative achievements in science, society and arts. [GREENBOOK AGENCY]
