Hana Financial Group will be providing entrepreneurship and career training opportunities for university students.
The financial group signed a memorandum of understanding with Korea National University of Cultural Heritage on May 20 to provide consultation and financial support to the university's students who want to create their own business, specifically related to Korean traditional culture.
The university was established by the Cultural Heritage Administration, located in Buyeo County, South Chungcheong and teaches subjects related to traditional Korean art, architecture and history.
Hana Financial Group will also provide online entrepreneurship courses for those students.
By end of the first half of this year, it plans to sign memorandum of understandings with more universities in Chungcheong, Jeolla, Gyeongsang and Gangwon Provinces and in Seoul to offer the same support programs.
"Many youth are moving to the greater Seoul area, and the decreasing population in other areas has become a social problem," said Ham Young-joo, chairman of Hana Financial Group. "We wish to help preserve traditional Korean culture through our program that aims to foster local entrepreneurs, create jobs and vitalize the economy of regional areas."
Hana Financial Group has been offering a variety of other career support programs.
As part of its corporate responsibility program, it has been providing internships for people with disabilities, women returning to work after a career gap and designers between 18 and 39 since 2017. The company also participated in the Korea Social Enterprise Promotion Agency's career program between 2017 and 2020, assigning mentors to students who wish to go into marketing and public relations.
