Kim Beom-su, founder of Korea’s dominant platform operator Kakao Corp. and Brian Impact Foundation devoted to sponsorship and charity programs for social programs, has donated 10 billion won ($7.84 million) to Bear Better, a social enterprise providing employment for people with developmental disabilities.

Bear Better, established ten years ago by CEO Kim Jung-ho, one of the founding members of IT giant Naver, creates jobs for people with disabilities through its business of coffee, bakeries, and flowers in Seoul and its surrounding areas. CEO Kim plans to expand its business nationwide and Kim has offered financial backing of 10 billion won.

Kim in 2021 has vowed to donate half of his fortune to charitable causes. Putting his words into action, he helped CEO Kim launch Bear Better’s affiliate for the employment of the disabled in Daegu, south of Seoul. “Bear Better works for the hiring of the disabled. Kim helps us with his financial aid. I hope our collaboration will improve the hiring condition for people with developmental disabilities,” said CEO Kim.

Kim launched a private charity foundation “Brian Impact” last Jun to help provide solutions to social problems. He used his English name, Brian, for the title of his charity foundation.
