Jeong Eun-kyeong, heroine behind Korea's battle with new coronavirus and the country’s first Commissioner of Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency elevated amid the pandemic, is leaving the helm over infectious disease control after President Yoon Suk-yeol named Peck Kyong-ran, an infectious disease professor at Sungkyunkwan University, as new chief. Jeong was the most watched mouth during the onset of Covid-19 outbreak as she briefed the nation daily on the developments in calm and reassuring voice and made the Time's 100 Most Influential People of 2020.
