Unrest due to the political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka

According to Sri Lanka Police, at least nine people died, more than 220 people were injured and dozens of vehicles and houses were torched during political unrest that broke out in Sri Lanka on 09 and 10 May during which the government enforced an island-wide curfew. Thousands of protesters staged the Occupy Galle Face protest since over a month in front of the Presidential Secretariat calling for the resignation of the president over the alleged failure to address the economic crisis.
