Foreign investors kept up selling spree in Korean stocks for the fourth month in a row in April after dumping net 5.3 trillion won ($4.1 billion) worth Korean stocks - 5.2 trillion won in Kospi and 132 billion won in tech-savvy Kosdaq. As of April 30, foreign ownership of Korean stocks stood at 696.2 trillion won, 26.7% of total market cap, with American investors holding 284.6 trillion won worth, or 40.9% of total foreign ownership, Europeans with 30.1%, Asian 13.9% and those from Middle East 3.4%. In Korean bonds, foreigners net bought 4 trillion won worth and paid back 3.97 trillion won upon reaching maturity to record net investment of 36 billion won. They have been net investors in Korean bonds since Jan 2021, with bond holding hitting new record high of 223.2 trillion won as of end-April. Asian investors hold 100.3 trillion won worth, or 44.9%, followed by European with 69.9 trillion won (31.3%).
