Son Heung-min's penalty against Arsenal on Thursday has put the Tottenham Hotspur striker on 21 goals for the season, just one behind Liverpool's Mohammad Salah to turn the top scorer ranking into a two-horse race with just a couple of games left to play.
As of press time Sunday, Son had scored a personal-best 21 goals on the 2021-22 season with two games left to play: Against Burnley later on Sunday evening and Norwich on May 22.
Salah, who leads the ranking with 22 goals, also has two games left to play: Against Southampton on Tuesday and Wolverhampton Wanderers on May 22.
Son enters the home stretch on phenomenal form, having found the back of the net in six of the last eight games for a total of 10 goals since March 20 as of press time.
Salah, on the other hand, has been quite quiet in front of goal in recent months. Over the same period, he's scored in just one of seven games for a total of two goals. He was unable to get anything across when Liverpool took a 1-1 draw with Spurs last week, with Son scoring his side's goal in that game.
Cristiano Ronaldo of Manchester United sits in third place on the ranking with 18 goals. With Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne following with 15 goals.
