The Korean stock markets have become lethargic with trade turnover sinking by more than 30% on faster U.S. rate increases. Trade turnover at the main Kospi averaged at 10.72 trillion won ($8.41 billion) on April 6-May 6, down 33.6% from a year ago and nearly low as the onset of pandemic.

Kosdaq also has been listless, with average trade turnover at 7.55 trillion won down 37.3% on year and below 9.6 trillion won of 2020 rout levels.
