Korea Investment & Securities Co. came first in bottom line, earning consolidated operating profit of 1.3 trillion won ($1.08 billion), up 69.9% from the previous year. Net profit surged 104.4% on year to 1.4 trillion won. Net profit and operating profit both passed the 1 trillion won milestone for the first time. The annual return on equity (ROE) stood at 22.3%, becoming the first financial brokerage firm to exceed 20%. Mirae Asset Securities came second although it managed to achieve 1 trillion won in both operating and net profits for two consecutive years but lagged behind Korea Investment which excelled in IPO arrangements.
