Com2uS readying to launch its own crypto for metaverse business

Korean game developer Com2uS is in final stage to build a platform to issue a cryptocurrency to be used for its own metaverse 'Com2Verse' and various play-to-earn (P2E) games based on a blockchain system.

Com2uS is one of major Korean game developers shifting to cryptocurrency platforms that will boost P2E games into new growth engines.

According to industry sources on Wednesday, Com2uS Holdings and its subsidiary Com2uS are doing final work on the issuance of its own token C2X and platform development. Token sales and whitepaper publication are due in early February. Pre-ICO and token listing are expected to follow during February to align with the release of their new game titles: 'Chromatic Souls' and ' Summoners War: Chronicles', respectively, in the first half of this year.

Com2uS recently announced that it will take another leap forward as a blockchain-based content and platform company. Com2uS Holdings, renamed from Gamevil, goes all out in blockchain-based platform, game, exchange, and metaverse businesses.

C2X will support Com2Verse, which is composed of an office world equipped with online work functions, a community world that serves as an exchange, and a commercial world where goods can be purchased. C2X will also be used as a Com2Verse governance coin.

ICOs by game companies have recently stirred a controversy since another game company Wemade earlier announced a plan to sell its own cryptocurrency to pursue M&As and revitalize the ecosystem, which is the first crypto-based financing in Korea, where ICOs remain banned.

Com2uS said, however, it will not raise M&A funds by selling its tokens and its commitment to this will be stipulated in the whitepaper. C2X will be distributed and disclosed transparently under the decentralization and governance policy to help stakeholders like token holders prosper in the ecosystem, said a Com2uS official.
