Seoul city gov't vows to up EV charging stations in capital by 10-fold in 5 years

The Seoul Metropolitan Government vows to increase the number of EV charging stations in Korea’s capital city by 10 times to 220,000 units by 2026 under an ambitious plan to replace 10% of total vehicles on the roads, as well as 100% of delivery trucks and motorcycles with battery-powered vehicles by 2026. The transportation sector currently accounts for about 20% of Seoul’s greenhouse gas emissions, it said. This is part of the city’s broad green plan to cut yearly greenhouse gases emissions to 34.61 million tons by 2026, 25% lower from 2019. Seoul will also fund the refurbishment of 1 million decrepit buildings that take up 68.7% of the total emissions, into energy efficient buildings. It will invest total 10 trillion won ($8.4 billion) to reduce emissions from car and buildings.
