SK Innovation, Georgia Tech's Prof Lee Seung-woo collaborate on solid-state battery

SK Innovation Co. will collaborate with professor Lee Seung-woo of Georgia Institute of Technology to expedite the development of solid-state lithium-metal battery that is believed to be safer and more energy efficient than lithium-ion batteries. Prof Lee has developed a new concept of solid-state EV battery using elastomeric, or a rubber-type polymer, electrolyte jointly with KAIST research team. With the collaboration, SK Innovation expects the new solid-state battery to improve EV driving range to 800 kilometers on a single charge, much longer than the current 500 kilometers.
