After the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) checked telephone records of Shinsegae Group Vice Chairman Chung Yong-jin, he posted on Instagram a photo with the hashtags “I’ll survive until the end,” and “Myeol-kong” (literally meaning “Destroy Communism”). Opposition presidential candidate Yoon Suk-yeol posted on social media a picture of himself buying anchovies (“myeol-chi”) and beans (“kong”) at Emart, part of Chung’s business group. A combination of the two Korean words means “Destroy Communism.” [PARK YONG-SEOK]
