Foreign travelers to South Korea shriveled 64.3% to total 877,000 from January to November last year versus the first pandemic year of 2020. Considering the monthly visitors of 94,000 in November, annual visitors of 2021 are forecast to have reached below 1 million for the first time since data started being compiled in 1984. Visitors from China plunged 76.6% on year to total 159,000, and those from Japan down 96.7% to 14,000. Before the virus spread, the number of Chinese travelers to Korea exceeded 5.5 million in January-November 2019.
