Outbound shipments of eco-friendly cars by Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Corp. topped a 300,000 unit milestone for the first time since they began green car exports, hitting 331,617 units from January to November 2021. This was up 33.6 percent from the same period a year earlier and already exceeded their full-year green car sales of 2020. Their brisk eco-friendly car sales were mainly driven by strong demand for hybrid SUVs and pure EV cars such as the Ioniq 5. Hyundai Motor exported 187,366 green cars, gaining 41.8 percent on year, while Kia saw a 24.3 percent rise to 144,251 vehicles.
