KT DS introduced the country’s first metaverse platform exclusively for students attending hagwon cram schools.
KT DS, the IT subsidiary of KT, said Monday that the K-VaRam metaverse platform will be used by students taking online courses from Etoos, one of Korea’s largest online private tutoring companies.
The students will be taking classes in the virtual reality space and will have access to one-on-one video calls with their tutors if they need help.
The students can also create a virtual study group if they need extra sessions among themselves.
An automated study manager will give them daily homework.
The service has been in development since 2019 before the Covid-19 outbreak.
“Starting with this education platform, we will expand the new metaverse trend to telecommunication, finance, retail and the public spheres,” said Woo Jeong-min, KT DS CEO.
