LG Energy Solution, GM to build 3rd joint battery factory in U.S.: reports

Korea’s LG Energy Solution, which is also the world’s No. 2 EV battery maker, is reviewing a plan to build a third joint battery cell factory with U.S. General Motors in Lansing, Michigan, according to reports by foreign media outlets on Friday (local time). The two are currently building first and second battery cell plants in Ohio and Tennessee, respectively. The Wall Street Journal reported that a joint venture project “would split more than $2 billion between GM and LG and create around 1,200 jobs.”
