After its introduction in 2020, the Jakarta Fashion Hub (JFH) collaborative space was formally inaugurated by Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno on Saturday. Located at the heart of Jakarta’s business and commerce district on Jl. Teluk Betung 33, the JFH is designed to accommodate further collaboration between Indonesian creative workers, particularly in the fashion and textile industries. During the event, which was also attended by Royal Golden Eagle (RGE) Group managing director Anderson Tanoto and Asia Pacific Rayon (APR) director Basrie Kamba, Sandiaga expressed his appreciation for the JFH as a platform able to bridge the passion and talents of Indonesia’s creative industry as well as encourage business potential in the country’s burgeoning fashion industry.

“Through Jakarta Fashion Hub, we hope that the national fashion industry can be further improved and is able to find a place in the hearts of Indonesians, so that Indonesian products can readily compete on a global scale. We also hope that the inauguration is able to bring innovation, adaptation and closer collaboration in the Indonesian fashion ecosystem,” he said. Those who make use of the JFH, he continued, were able to support the government’s efforts in encouraging the competitiveness of Indonesia’s creative economy, fostering collaboration on products able to compete domestically and internationally as well as supporting the economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic. “There are many opportunities in the Indonesian fashion and creative economy sectors. The government continuously strives to provide the best materials for the industry, creating a program in line with the President’s instruction to make Indonesia the center of the global modest fashion scene, all the while introducing the spirit of #BanggaBuatanIndonesia (#ProudOfIndonesianMade) and #SemuanyaAdaDisini (#EverythingAvailableHere).” APR Director Basrie Kamba expressed his hope that the JFH would be able to drive Indonesia’s creative economy through its services and facilities, including by offering solutions for creativepreneurs looking to expand their businesses.

“With this inauguration, we hope that more of the younger generation will actively nurture their potential and creativity in creating Indonesian-made fashion products possessing a global presence in line with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s vision of encouraging #BanggaBuatanIndonesia. We are highly optimistic that Indonesia will be able to become a global fashion hub,” he said.
