SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won met with Conni Jonsson, founder and chairperson of Sweden’s investment company EQT Partners, to discuss environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management and business areas they could jointly invest in.
The group said in a statement Sunday that Chey met with Jonsson Friday at the group’s head office in Jongno District, central Seoul.
EQT Partners is an investment company that has operations in 24 countries. It has a market cap of 60 trillion won ($50.7 billion) and handles 90 trillion won worth of assets.
During the Friday meeting, Chey shared SK Group’s latest efforts in ESG management including how it plans to reduce its carbon footprint. Chey told Jonsson that SK Group is focusing on establishing a sustainable value chain related to the hydrogen business, from hydrogen production to distribution and consumption.
According to SK Group, Jonsson said that he acknowledges the hydrogen business in Korea is developing rapidly compared to other European countries and if SK is looking for a business partner in Europe, EQT Partners can be one.
