One of the oldest Korean commercial banks KB Kookmin Bank appointed Lee Jae-keun, executive vice president of sales at KB Kookmin Bank, as its new chief executive, whom when endorsed by shareholders in January will become the youngest head in Korea’s top five commercial banks. Lee, 55, was recommended by the CEO recommendation committee on Wednesday, and will succeed current CEO Hur Yin who has been promoted to vice chairman of KB Financial Group. The nomination underscores the traditional bank’s efforts to go digital and younger. Lee’s two-year term will begin in January upon shareholder approval.
