Korean volleyball legend Kim Yeon-koung's fans donate 140,000 trees to Turkey

South Korean female volleyball legend Kim Yeon-koung’s fans have donated 140,000 tree saplings to Turkey that suffered from nationwide forest fires in summer, according to Turkish environmental organization CEKUD on Sunday. It is the largest tree donation from overseas since the Turkish republic was declared in 1923, the organization added. Kim’s Korean fans began a fundraising campaign to help Turkey recover from the huge fire after the Turkish women's national volleyball team’s defeat to the South Korean team in the Tokyo Olympics quarterfinals. Kim previously played for Turkish pro clubs Fenerbahce and Eczacibasi VitrA.
