Kakao blockchain Klaytn brings on global blockchain gaming platform Gala Games

The world’s leading blockchain game platform Gala Games is joining Kakao’s blockchain platform Klaytn and will invest $1 billion in the Korean blockchain gaming market.

Ozys, the developer and operator of Klaytn’s decentralized finance (DeFi) service KLAYswap, announced Monday that it signed a memorandum of understanding with Gala Games to extend cooperation to expand blockchain ecosystem.

After making its debut on Klaytn ecosystem at Spider Tank e-Sports World held in Seoul on Sunday, Gala Games will join hands with Ozys in various sectors including non-fungible tokens (NFTs), metaverse and DeFi, and make joint marketing efforts around the world.

Gala Games will broaden its ecosystem through Ozys’ Orbit Bridge to remove the current restrictions of being on Ethereum and BSC chains, the company said. It will offer Gala tokens in the form of KGALA, a Klaytn compatible token (KCT), through KLAYswap’s Drops.

Gala Games was established by Eric Schiermeyer, the co-founder of social game developer Zynga. The blockchain gaming platform has attracted around 1.8 million users per month as it has been steadily gaining popularity by providing cutting-edge services like play-to-earn (P2E) and item sales through NFTs. Users can directly participate in the operation of the platform.
