Protest against Shell seismic survey off South Africa coastline

Environmentalists across the country are outraged over Shell's planned five month survey of South Africa's pristine wild coast which will have devastating effects on marine life. Shell is planning to bombard the sea floor every 10 seconds 24 hours a day for up to five months using highly pressurised air called shockwave balls which have the potential to maim or kill animals. Rolling protests have occured over the past week across South Africa against this plans. The South African organization 'Oceans Not Oil Coalition' have started a petition to South Africa's Minister of Fisheries, Forestry and the Environment, Barbara Creecy to withdraw the approval of the application by Shell to conduct the survey.
