Aftermath of heavy rains in Rayalacheruvu

The district administration of Chittoor in the state of Andhra Pradesh issued a warning to the public on November 21, 2021, as minor cracks have formed in the 500-year-old water tank of Rayalacheruvu near the temple town of Tirupati following recent heavy rains. For several days, authorities have been trying to drain the excess water. No less than 34,000 bags of sand and cement have been dumped to seal the water. Residents of 18 villages have been evacuated and nearly 100 villages in Ramchandrapuram, Chandragiri and Tirupati are at risk of flooding.
