South Korea’s Kornatus, the operator of taxi and ride-hailing app Banban Taxi, and Singapore-based mobility service firm MVL, have partnered to share their driver pool, allowing users to access their services on a single app in both South Korea and Southeast Asia.

The cross-roaming taxi-hailing service will begin in the first quarter of next year, Kornatus said on Thursday. MVL, which is building an incentive-based blockchain mobility ecosystem, operates TADA ride-hailing services in Singapore, Cambodia and Vietnam.

With this partnership, Kornatus can launch Banban Taxi operating in Korea to Singapore and Vietnam, while MVL can launch its TADA service operating in Southeast Asia to Korea as well. As a result, Korean travelers can use a Banban Taxi app to call a taxi in Singapore and Vietnam in Korean and overseas travelers from Singapore and Vietnam can do the same in Korea through their Tada app.

The Tada app has some 1 million users. MVL is expanding its platform business to include grocery and food delivery in Southeast Asia.

Kornatus plans to diversify its business model to allow different mobility operators in Korea and elsewhere to access its open platform to launch a taxi-hailing service.
