Posco Energy will cash out on a 30% stake in the Mong Duong thermal power plant 2 project in Vietnam for 217.5 billion won ($184.3 million) by October 2024, earlier than expected, following suit of the project’s biggest stakeholder and its partner AES Corporation of the U.S. that earlier this year sold off its entire 51% stake amid the global-wide campaign to reduce carbon emissions. It is also seeking to replace another coal-fired power plant project in Vietnam with one for more eco-friendly energy like liquefied natural gas.
