Paris Baguette is opening its first store in Indonesia next month.

Paris Baguette is entering the market in a joint venture with Indonesia's Erajaya Group, announced SPC Group, which runs Paris Baguette on Monday.

Paris Baguette Singapore, which manages the franchise’s operations in Southeast Asia, established a joint venture with Erajaya Food & Nourishment called PT Era Boga Patiserindo.

Erajaya is a retailer of mobile telecommunication devices, including phones and tablets. Erajaya Food & Nourishment is a subsidiary.

Indonesia is the seventh country to get a Paris Baguette. There are around 430 Paris Baguette stores abroad including in China, the United States, Vietnam, France, Singapore and Cambodia.

Paris Baguette chose to expand to Indonesia due to its large population, around 270 million people – the world’s fourth largest.

The first store is scheduled to open in Jakarta next month. More are planned in key cities like Surabaya and Medan.

“Indonesia has high potential and is the largest market in Southeast Asia,” said Hur Jin-soo, executive vice president of SPC Group, in a statement. Hur added that Paris Baguette will strengthen its global business, accelerate an expansion in Southeast Asia and build a new factory in Malaysia.
