A man in his 60s and two baby boys were found dead outside an apartment building in Busan in an apparent murder-suicide, according to Geumjeong Police on Wednesday.
The case was reported to the police around 7 p.m. Tuesday when a resident of the apartment witnessed the man and his two grandchildren lying unconscious in a small yard outside his building.
The three were immediately taken to a nearby hospital but were all declared dead later that night.
The boys’ ages were three and one.
Police investigations revealed that the man lived in close proximity to the apartment where his son, daughter-in-law and two grandbabies lived.
He was said to have frequently visited his son’s house to take care of his two young grandchildren.
The man was taking care of the baby boys on the day of their death as well, according to the police.
The police suspect that the man jumped off of the top of the apartment building with the two babies while his son had temporarily left the house.
The three were caught on one of the apartment’s security cameras as they were apparently making their way toward the apartment’s rooftop.
Police have called in the late man’s son and daughter-in-law for questioning, as well as the couple’s neighbors, in order to find out the exact cause of death and any possible motives.
