Hyundai Motor¡¯s luxury marque Genesis unveiled its first all-electric SUV GV60 based on the mother EV-dedicated platform E-GMP capable of driving up to 451 kilometers (280 miles) on a single charge in a sleek coupe CUV design and dynamic profile.

GV60 was presented in three trims of the standard rear-wheel-drive version, the standard four-wheel-drive type and the performance variant at the online world premiere event held Thursday.

It goes on sale in Korea from Oct. 6 with a price from 59.9 million won ($50,535.73) for the standard rear-wheel-drive variant, according to the company.

All the trims are fitted with 77.4-kWh battery. The standard rear-wheel-drive version with a 168kW motor is capable of producing up to 350Nm of torque and driving up to 451km on a single charge. The standard four-wheel-drive model with a 160kW motor and a 74kW motor enables the car to produce up to 605Nm of torque and drive up to 400km on a single charge.

The performance variant with 160kW dual motors can produce up to 605Nm of torque and accelerate to 100km/h from zero in just 4 seconds on a boost mode.

Front highlight is the two-line lamps that complete the vehicle¡¯s voluminous body and the signature wider crest grille that moves to a lower position to accommodate cooling requirements specific to the platform. As a first for the brand, the GV60 features a clamshell hood, a single panel that combines the hood and fenders for a sleeker look.

The side profile displays a coupe-like silhouette with a short overhang and a long wheelbase, and the rear also shows signature two-line lamps and the coupe roof profile ending with a distinctive fixed wing spoiler that emphasizes its dynamic, high-performance EV image.

The interior design of the GV60 focuses on creating spacious and comfortable interior with unique details. The Crystal Sphere displayed in the center console is one of the most striking design elements for interaction between the driver and the vehicle. When the vehicle is turned off, the sphere becomes the inside mood lights, and when the vehicle is ready to drive, it rotates and the shift by wire (SBW) appears.

The floating console where the sphere is located looks as if it is up in the air, working with other features like slim cockpit and flat floor to provide upgraded openness.

As unveiled earlier, the GV60 will sport a face recognition feature to unlock the vehicle without using a physical key, which would be the first of its kind in the global automobile industry. Combined with a fingerprint authentication system, the face recognition feature will enable GV60 drivers to have complete and safe control of their cars only with biometric information without a smartphone or a smart key.

The multi charging system enables stable and rapid charging. When charging on the 350kW ultra-speed charging mode, the battery can be charged from 10 percent to 80 percent in just 18 minutes.

The GV60 with three motor options is priced from 59.9 million won for the standard rear-wheel-drive version, 64.59 million won for the standard four-wheel-drive trim and 69.75 million won for the performance variant.

One of the four charging options – home charging units, apartment building charging solutions, charging credits and lifestyle – will be offered to buyers free of charge.

¡°GV60 will set a new standard for luxury electric vehicles with a powerful driving performance and various key features based on interactions with customers,¡± said Jay Chang, global head of Genesis brand.
