Motov, a South Korean mobility-based info-data company, joined the Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program in an event in San Diego, United States, this week to gain impetus in its global push.

Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program – launched in 2019 as part of the Qualcomm Advantage Network – is an integrated solution aimed at developing city infrastructure and service through partnerships among municipalities, government agencies, and enterprises. The program is participated by companies in various fields, including hardware and software suppliers with smart city project knowledge, cloud solution suppliers, and design and manufacturing companies.

Motov joined the program through recognition for its Motov Edge AI Device, a location-based ad platform installed on taxi roofs that help collect and analyze city data.

The Motov Edge AI Device features an artificial intelligence (AI) that senses city data using images and audio, graphics processing unit (GPU) and digital signal processing (DSP), and 30 Internet of Things (IoT) sensors that collect and analyze illumination, humidity, and fine dust data.

A taxi equipped with the device can collect 110 types of urban data with IoT sensor while on the roads.

Through Qualcomm momentum, Motov plans to speed up its entry into overseas markets.

The tech company is currently carrying out a trial project on mobility media supply localization for urban monitoring and information alerts to citizens upon request by the Mexico Federal Police.

Motov plans to sell mobile data collection platforms across the world with the goal of advancing into 100 cities in the Americas and Europe.

“With the Qualcomm Smart Cities Accelerator Program, we will actively publicize, across global markets, our software and hardware technologies and competitiveness that can provide a basic infrastructure for overseas smart city projects,” said Lim Woo-hyuk, chief executive of Motov. “As one of the world’s most advanced urban tech companies, Motov will make greater efforts to secure technologies for building smart city infrastructure.”
