Local entertainment companies Play M Entertainment and Cre.Ker Entertainment are set to merge, Kakao Entertainment announced Friday.
Play M Entertainment is home to K-pop groups Apink, Victon and Weeekly, while Cre.Ker Entertainment manages boy band The Boyz. Both companies are subsidiaries of Kakao Entertainment.
With the merger, both companies will launch a new integrated company, which will be completed within the latter part of the year. Details of the merger procedures will be disclosed at a later date.
“We strive to strengthen each label’s potential independently, while cooperating closely,” said a representative for Kakao Entertainment. “We hope this will create strong integrated synergy and help expand [the labels’] scope in the music industry.”
