A customer shopping for packaged Chuseok foods at a major shopping mart in Seoul on Thursday. In the past, families would gather to make dishes enjoyed during the Chuseok holidays including songpyeon, or rice cakes steamed with pine leaves. More recently, these meal kits have gained popularity. According to Shinsegae's online shopping mall, such meal kit sales were up 12 percent between Aug. 31 and Sept. 13 when compared to the two weeks prior to the Chuseok holidays in 2020. [YONHAP]
