Samsung pledges 30,000 youth jobs during Lee's first public outing since jail release

Samsung Group de facto leader and Samsung Electronics Vice Chairman Jay Y. Lee making his first public appearance after release from jail on parole last month on Tuesday pledged to create further 30,000 youth jobs over three years during Youth HOPE ON, a government-led job support program, at Samsung Software Academy For Youth (SSAFY), attended by Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum, in Yeoksam-dong, southern Seoul. Under the plan, Samsung Group will double enrollments at its training center SSAFY to over 2,000 next year and also expand its C-Lab Outside and Smart Factory programs to support youth jobs. The commitment is separate from its earlier announcement to create 40,000 jobs through direct hires.
