Hyosung Group Chairman Cho Hyun-joon took a business trip to the United States to tour the group’s plants and meet high-profile lawmakers in a bid to strike potential business agreements.
During the trip earlier this month, he visited Hyosung Heavy Industries' ultra high-voltage plant in Memphis, Tennessee. There, Cho met with Tennessee Senator Bill Hagerty to suggest ways that Hyosung and the state’s electricity provider cooperate on heavy electric technology.
Cho also expressed his hope that the group establish joint programs with the state’s universities.
“[Hyosung] intends to nurture talent in the shipbuilding industry and strengthen partnerships with electricity providers so that we can contribute to improving electricity infrastructure in the United States,” Cho said.
Cho also visited Hyosung TNS's U.S. corporate body in Dallas, Texas to monitor products produced there and discuss marketing strategy.
He requested that the local branch strengthen its expertise on digital transformation including transaction based on cryptocurrency.
In the post-pandemic era, Hyosung also aims to bolster its standing in advanced auto parts for eco-friendly cars like electric vehicles and hydrogen cars.
