LG Chem, TK Chemical team up to produce biodegradable plastics

LG Chem will develop and produce poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT) in cooperation with TK Chemical, a subsidiary of Samra Midas (SM) Group, with a plan to establish a PBAT production line in South Korea by the second half of 2022, the Korean chemical giant said on Sunday. PBAT, based on fossil resources, is a synthetic polymer that can naturally degrade within six months in soil.
