Korean household appliance names Samsung and LG were behind half of TVs sold across the world in the first half of 2021, rising from 36.1% on year to $54.3 billion, according to Omdia market research report. Samsung Electronics was No.1 with a share of 31.0% and LG Electronics the next at 19.0%, thanks to rising demand for premium TV models QLED and OLED. Their TV sales were slower in Q2 versus Q1, due to production setbacks from Covid-19 resurgence.
