Actor Kim Yong-geon has reconciled with a woman who was suing the 75-year-old actor for allegedly pressuring her to get an abortion.
“Kim and his girlfriend met in person and decided to reconcile,” the 36-year-old woman’s legal attorney, Sun Jong-moon said in a statement on Thursday. “Kim apologized to her, and she decided to forgive him and therefore drop the lawsuit filed against him.”
The lawyer added that Kim promised her that he will do his best to fulfill his duty as a father.
Kim also released a statement through his attorney Im Bang-geul, apologizing for causing trouble.
“I met with the expectant mother and we had a long, sincere talk over the last couple of days,” he said. “Through our conversation, I came to reflect on myself and the hurt that I caused her.
“I’ll do my best to stand by the expectant mother and soon-to-be-born child,” he continued. “Even though it’s a little late, I’ve come to realize that the child is much more important than my reputation and I’ve told my sons about the child.”
Kim debuted in 1967 and has featured in numerous films, television series and variety shows. Kim married in 1977 and has two sons, one of whom is actor Ha Jung-woo. He divorced in 1996.
