The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Craft & Design Foundation announced on Tuesday that girl group Brave Girls and boy band DKB were selected to join forces with 10 hanbok companies to promote the traditional Korean attire.
As part of the “Hanbok Wave” project, the selected K-pop artists will participate in planning hanbok product launches and be at the forefront of promotions and marketing.
The collaboration project aims for Korean celebrities and pop artists to work with the hanbok industry to promote hanbok abroad.
Last year, contemporary dance crew Ambiguous Dance Company and singer Chungha were selected to participate and garnered over 100 thousand views for the "2020 Hanbok Wave” fashion show video.
“We will express the beauty of hanbok on stage and actively promote its values and advantages as everyday clothes,” said Brave Girls and DKB.
Around 70 hanbok products created by the artists and the companies will be unveiled at a fashion show set to take place in November.
