Paseco, the largest window air conditioner maker in South Korea, has made inroads into the Latin American market with its first deal to export to Chile upon enthusiastic demand for the easy-to-install coolers in Korea and Southeast Asian countries amid hotter climate.

A window AC is a single-unit air conditioner installed on the window, a solution for houses that have no outdoor space to install the condenser.

The latest export contract is significant as it was achieved under Brand K, a joint industry brand launched by the government in 2019 designed to help Korean SMEs.

Under the contract, Paseco will initiate shipment with 1,000 units in September to Chile where summer starts in December. The initial batch of Paseco accounts for about 20 percent of total exports of Korean ACs to Chile.

The company said its product superiority in electrical safety, energy efficiency, as well as low noise drives consumer adoption in Chile whose market entry is high for foreign brands. Paseco¡¯s window ACs are three times more expensive than wall hung ACs and two times compared to Chinese window ACs available in Chile, but the superior performance, quality and design appeal local consumers, leading to the export contract, the company said.

Paseco, previously known for oil heaters in Korea, is now a leading player in the AC market. It sold more than 100,000 units over the past three months, surpassing 250,000 units in three years.
