Samsung Electronics yielded No. 1 position in global smartphone market to Chinese brand Xiaomi for the first time in June, data from Counterpoint Research showed. Xiaomi overtook Samsung Electronics and Apple in June sales with a market share of 17.1 percent. In terms of monthly growth rates from the previous month, Xiaomi was the fastest-growing smartphone brand with 26 percent, followed by Samsung with 15.7 percent and Apple with 14.3 percent.
